Manager, Consumer External Innovation
Elizabeth (Liz) Wu joined Johnson & Johnson Innovation in 2016 and is a Manager, Consumer External Innovation currently based in Seoul, South Korea. In this role, she is responsible for identifying and evaluating external innovation opportunities aligned to key global and regional priorities for the Consumer business in Asia Pacific. Her primary focus is to strengthen the innovation networks externally in Korea and Japan, and partners with both the Asia Pacific Innovation Center (APIC) in Shanghai and the Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC (JJDC) investment team to execute on key partnership and equity investment opportunities in the region.
Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson Innovation, Liz held positions of increasing responsibility at L’Oréal, including Associate Principal Scientist at L’Oréal Research & Innovation. In that role, her primary responsibility was to evaluate and establish external collaborations in line with L’Oréal’s R&D strategy, and through her leadership, several of these relationships successfully achieved key scientific milestones. Prior to L’Oréal, Liz completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, a member of A*STAR’s biomedical sciences institutes in Singapore. Liz's work focused on the development and characterization of self-assembling peptide hydrogels for cell and tissue engineering applications.Liz earned her B.S. in Bioengineering from University of California, Berkeley, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Bioengineering from University of California, San Diego.
