Senior Director, Scientific Innovation, Cardiovascular & Metabolism
Shamina is Senior Director of Scientific Innovation for Cardiovascular & Metabolism at Johnson & Johnson Innovation, London. In this role, she uses her extensive expertise in metabolic and cardiovascular drug discovery to identify better therapies for cardiometabolic disease across the EMEA region.
Shamina joined Janssen in 2013 where in her previous role, she led multiple Discovery teams in Cardiovascular & Metabolism focused on identifying large and small molecule therapeutics. Prior to joining Janssen, Shamina served in a senior scientific role at Novo Nordisk in Copenhagen Denmark, where she directed teams on the discovery of peptide and protein therapeutics for diabetes and metabolic disease. Shamina started her career at Novartis in Cambridge, MA where she led efforts on mitochondrial and metabolic health in skeletal muscle.
Shamina earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at The Ohio State University. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Shamina is an author on a number of highly cited publications.
