TRUMATCH® Graft Cage – Long Bone

In 2014, Johnson & Johnson Innovation entered into an agreement with Tissue Regeneration Systems, a young spinout from the University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin focused on developing tissue regeneration solutions.

Through close collaboration with DePuy Synthes, an Orthopedic solutions company of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, and combining capabilities and expertise from both companies, we developed and, in 2020 launched a truly transformational product, TRUMATCH Graft Cage – Long Bone, the first U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved, personalized, biodegradable, 3D-printed bone graft cage implant for long bone defects.

Through this innovative approach and the enabling power of 3D printing technology, we are able to offer patients a transformational treatment of long bone defects caused by traumatic injuries or illnesses, such as cancer, which traditionally have been known to have high risk of complications, including deep infections, inadequate healing, and amputations.
